In the last lesson, it was found that the word “Amorite” refers to Gentile nations, and not in a positive manner. Scripture shows us that iniquity is sin, and iniquity is associated with the Amorites. The first use of the word “iniquity” is found in Genesis 15:16;
“But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.”Some associate the Genesis phrase, “the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full” with the statement of the Apostle Paul in Romans 11:25;
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.”This verse is thought by some to indicate that the blindness of Israel will cease when all Gentiles have been saved, but the word “salvation” does not appear in reference to Gentiles. The Greek word translated as “fullness,” pleroma, (Strong’s G4138) means “something that is filled.”
Perhaps Paul was referring to the filling of the iniquity of the latter day Amorites. If this is another Biblical foreshadow of a coming event, who are the Amorites today? Who is the Lord allowing to grow more and more evil and wicked so that He can conclusively demonstrate that He, the Most High God, is in control of all things?
According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, “Amorite” is translated as a patron, a prominence (H567). Let’s look at the definition. Which distant Gentile country is a patron, providing funds to other nations? Which distant Gentile country is prominent in geopolitical affairs? Which distant Gentile country is the military, commercial and political giant among nations? Which distant Gentile country ignores the pleas of Israel, populated by the people the Lord has chosen, and honors Iran (or Persia), the country that has sworn to destroy the Lord’s land and people Israel?
Too often, we look at Biblical prophecy from a totally America-centric view. But if this statement about the Amorites is a future picture, a foreshadow, sadly the United States appears to fit the definition. The United States has declared prayer, belief in God, belief in His Word to be unacceptable, and in some cases, punishable by law. The government of the United States has rejected the moral code of the value of life, and the social foundation of any nation, marriage. The European Union has also followed this path, and occasionally surpasses America.
It could appear that the Lord is allowing this modern Amorite nation grow more wicked until their iniquity becomes full and complete. That could then be the time that Lord decides to declare to all nations, Who is the Creator, Who is Lord of All, Who is in total control.
Pray for America! Pray for the Lord’s mercy. Pray for His direction over our leaders.
