Satan, the deceiver, is a bright created being. One of his names is Lucifer which means “light-bearer” or “shining one.” (Isaiah 14:12) Over one-hundred years ago matches were known as “lucifers” because of the fire they created. Satan uses his brightness to deceive those he may.
A bright angel reportedly directed Joseph Smith to the golden plates upon which the Book of Mormon is based. The plates were later taken back by the angel. Without getting into the controversy of a text we are unable to prove, I am reminded of the Apostle Paul who said, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8)
Many people who have gone through what has become known as “near death experiences” tell of seeing a bright angel. Because of this they adopt the universalistic doctrine that we are all going to Heaven and there is no need to believe in Jesus or accept His great salvation. This, of course, is just what Satan would like.
Paul also tells us, “Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” (Second Corinthians 11:14-15)
My friends, we are in a time of great deception. Perhaps Satan knows that his time is short. (Revelation 12:12) We do not know what will be thrown at us until the Lord Jesus calls us to meet him in the air. (First Thessalonians 4:17) Until then, please be aware of the potential deception by Satan and his “ministers” or demons.
Brother L. A. Marzulli, a Christian author who came out of the occult, gives excellent advice. If we see something that we know is unusual or even supernatural, rebuke it in the name of the Lord Jesus and then investigate. Rebuke first, then investigate. If it is evil, it will flee the authority of the name of Jesus. If it is evil, you want nothing to do with it.
My prayer is that none of you are misled or deceived by an angel of light. Pray for the protection and deliverance of the Lord. He is faithful and will deliver us. Praise His holy name.
