I thought that a culture in which children were freely murdered, trafficked for sex and genetically mutilated had truly reached the bottom. But our society, our culture has sunk even lower. On October 7, 2023 over 1,400 civilians were murdered; men, women and children,. Atrocities that I cannot and will not describe were committed. And yet large portions of our society applaud these demonic atrocities.
It is irrational and insane for a culture to take such a stance.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” – II Timothy 3:1The Apostle Paul’s statement about the Last Days in this verse contains a singular, important word – “perilous.” The Greek work used here is chalepos (Strong’s G5467). This Greek word is used only one other time in the Bible, in the account of the Gergesene demoniac (Matthew 8:28). This demon-possessed man was fierce, irrational and did insane things. This describes the days in which we now live.
The current war in Gaza will not end soon. It will take months to clean out the tunnels full of arms and munitions, which are protected by evil men. By the way, the concrete for the tunnels, the arms and the munitions were paid for in part by United States taxpayers.
The clamor of the world to “stop the violence” started immediately upon Israel taking action to find over two-hundred hostages that were taken to Gaza. This clamor will increase. At some point steps will be taken to “stop the violence.” As an aside, as this is going on thousands of rockets have been fired from Gaza at innocent civilians in Israel, and yet nothing is said of this violence. Is this rational?
The United Nations (UN) has already issued a resolution condemning Israel for attacking the wicked men who killed and kidnapped citizens of Israel, but has said nothing of the atrocities committed by these same people. Thousands of Gazans cheered and applauded at videos shown to them of the atrocities. These are the same people that danced in the streets when over 3,000 Americans were killed on September 11, 2001. But the UN will not condemn their actions. Is this rational?
Because of the nature of the times in which we live, it is possible that the Lord is using what was meant for evil, for good, and to achieve His ends. At this point, this is obviously conjecture, but if it comes to pass I have hope to offer. Again, the Apostle Paul offers a sequence of events.
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.” – II Thessalonians 2:1-3The context of this passage is our being gathered to the Lord Jesus. Paul refers to “that day” from verse two, the Day of Christ. The Day of Christ is the day when the church is gathered, snatched up or raptured to be with the Lord Jesus.
Do not forget that Israel is the center of End Times events. Again, because of the nature of the times in which we now live, I would not be surprised if some international organization or person of international prominence steps up and arranges an end to the war between Israel and Hamas. If such a “peace” is arranged, Christians should pay close attention. If such a “peace” includes allowing Israel to build a place of worship, temple or tabernacle, on the traditional Temple Mount, then another important prophecy (II Thessalonians 2:4) will have been fulfilled. Please note that I said “if.”
Who such a person or entity to achieve this “peace” would be, I have no idea. A peace agreement that offered something for both sides, a cease-fire for Gaza and the Temple Mount for Israel, would be a clear indication of who is the “man of sin” and where we are on the prophetic timeline.
Paul says “that day” will not happen until there is a falling away, apostasia (Strong’s G646), the Greek word from which we get “apostasy.” There can be no argument that we are seeing apostasy not only in the world, but in the Church. If the scenario of a peace treaty as described above comes to pass, all that remains is the revealing of the “man of sin.”
How blessed we are to see the fulfillment of Bible prophecy!
“Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” – Revelation 22:20
