A Covenanted Nation

Having grown up after World War Two and in the 1950s, I am aware of how blessed America is. However, as you have seen personally I am sure, America has turned its back on the Lord. I have feared that the “American dream” was lost. I thought that America was dead.

Recently, however, I have become aware that the Lord has plans for our once-great nation. Several weeks ago I posted a lesson entitled “Megaliths in America” in which I showed that it appeared that the Devil placed a pagan “high place” here as part of the spiritual battle that surrounds us.

The early English settlements in North America, the “New World,” were commercial enterprises. They were in effect “developments.” The Roanoke development of Sir Walter Raleigh failed. The next effort was again in what we know as Virginia. When the expedition landed in 1607, they dedicated this land to the glory of God.

They had brought a cross from England and they planted it on the sandy beach. Pastor Robert Hunt was their leader and here is the prayer of dedication they gave:

“We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this Land, along with England, be Evangelist to the World. May all who see this Cross, remember what we have done here, and may those who come here to inhabit join us in this Covenant and in this most noble work that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled.”
These Christian Brothers made a Covenant of Dedication to the Lord, in which they dedicated the land to the salvation of the inhabitants at that time, the raising of Godly generations, and the evangelization of the entire world as long as this earth remains!

In my opinion, our God who does not change, remembers this covenant whether or not we do, and will work to complete it, for as long as this earth remains. I believe the Lord has more work for us to do, and He will give us the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Peter quoted the Prophet Joel on the Day of Pentecost. Joel spoke of the Last Days, and I thought Peter was thinking that they were nearing the Last Days at that time. I think I was wrong. Some of the things quoted in Joel have not yet occurred and are apocalyptic in nature. They are End Times occurrences. I believe the Holy Spirit will fall upon the Lord’s Church once again. The prophet spoke of the early rain (the Day of Pentecost) and the latter rain (a future Pentecost).

May the Holy Spirit assist us to the glory of God and the salvation of the lost. May there be a Great Revival within the Church and a Great Awakening without! May it start here in America and flow throughout the world!

In my weakness, I long thought that the Lord Jesus would come for His Church and the Church would not be greatly missed. I thought the great loss in the minds of most people would be the disappearance of the innocent children. Think about it. Would a gracious Lord make the innocent endure the Tribulation?

However I believe the Church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, will be a great force in these last days. I pray, and believe, there will be a great awakening, a great salvation of the lost. I believe that the Bride of Christ, the Church of the Lord Jesus, will not just slip out of history unnoticed. I believe the Church will be sorely missed. The Church of the Lord Jesus will leave this world with a grand flourish – to the Glory and Praise of God the Father and His Son, Jesus!!
