The design of the seven-branch Menorah was given by the Lord to Moses on Mount Sinai. This design shows us the number of books in the Bible and their arrangement. For more information please see www.luke810.com/men1.htm. This design is found symbolically throughout the Bible. In these designs the center position of the lamps (the servant lamp) usually refers to God, His throne, light (God is light) or fire (fire gives light).
In the history given us in the Bible, there are many city-states and their kings. There are not so many empires listed in the Word, and secular history agrees. The Bible does not mention the empires of what we know as China today, because they had no relations with Israel, which is the focus of God and His Word. This same focus is the reason why in the Bible almost all other nations in the world are referred to as “the isles,” or “the coasts.” If a country or empire had no interaction with the Lord’s people or His land, they were simply not significant to the Lord’s narrative.
The great empires noted in the Old Testament are:
Through a dream given to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and its meaning revealed by Daniel, the kingdom of Babylon is described by the Lord as the most powerful and glorious of all kingdoms. And Nebuchadnezzar was the “head of gold.” It appears that Babylon was placed in the “throne” position of the Menorah to confirm the Lord’s statement in the dream.
“Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath He given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.” – Daniel 2:37-38 (my emphasis)The Lord ordained Babylon to be the empire in the special servant lamp position of this Menorah Design … yet another pattern or design found in the Bible. These patterns and designs are the Lord’s hallmark on His precious Word. May His name be praised forever!
