In a previous lesson the example of the twelve springs and seventy palms was used to show the symbolism for the Lord’s chosen people and the nations of the world. The twelve tribes, or families, of Israel are shown by the twelve springs of water. The seventy palm trees are symbolic of the seventy nations of the world as given by the “Table of Nations” in Genesis chapter ten. These symbols are also used elsewhere in the Bible.
“And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees …” – Exodus 15:27This verse that shows us the picture of the Lord’s chosen and the nations of the world, this verse that shows us the people of Israel and the Land of Israel and the nations of the rest of the world, is the 1,948th verse of the Bible! If you have not made the connection, Israel became a nation again in the Year of Our Lord 1948!
The Hebrew calendar numbers the years from an ancient time. The year 1948 A.D. according to their reckoning is the year 5708. The 5,708th verse of the Bible says the following:
“And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it …” – Deuteronomy 30:5This verse prophesies our mighty God bringing the people of Israel back to their land in 1948!
Long before the Jews were carried into exile by the Babylonians in about 600 B.C., the Prophet Isaiah gave us this word from the Lord:
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people …” – Isaiah 11:11 (my emphasis)The first time was when He returned them from the Babylonian Captivity about 538 B.C.
Never doubt that the Lord Jehovah, who created the Heavens and the Earth by merely speaking them into existence, can arrange facts, words, names, dates and numbers in the Bible as He chooses. These facts astound us when we discover them. Everything in the Word of God is there for a purpose. Never doubt it!
Our Lord’s ways are as far above us as are the heavens. (Isaiah 55:9) He knows the end from the beginning! (Isaiah 46:10) What a mighty God we serve! Praise Him always!
