Fingerprints of the Almighty – Part Three
The principle of the Jubilee was given by the Lord in Leviticus chapter twenty-five. The purpose of the Jubilee was to restore the land of an Israelite back to the family, should they have surrendered it during the past fifty years. In effect, the land is redeemed by the family and returned to the family. Fifty is also the number of Redemption. Fifty days after Resurrection Sunday is the Day of Pentecost, or in Hebrew Shavuot. The rabbis recognize that Pentecost is about redemption, but of course, they do not see the Redemption of the Lord Jesus.
In past lessons it has been shown that in the Torah Pattern, the fifth book is Deuteronomy which is a summary of Israel’s departure from Egypt and forty years in the Wilderness. The Bible also shows us the consistent usage of the number “ten” as the number of Testimony. For example after His death, the Lord Jesus appeared on ten different occasions as testimony that He had been resurrected and was indeed alive! In testimony of the rebellion of the Children of Israel, the Lord told Moses that they would not see the Promised Land because of the ten times they tried Him. (Numbers 14:11-23)
This “five” of the Torah Pattern multiplied by “ten,” the number of Testimony gives us fifty. The fiftieth chapters of several books of the Bible are a Testimony of the intent of the Lord regarding Redemption and the Return of Land.
Here are testimonies from some fiftieth chapters:
- Genesis 50 – Upon his death the body of Jacob, or Israel, was returned to Promised Land. This was a contra return. Jacob was returned to the Land, rather than the Land returned to Jacob.
- II Samuel 19 – (the two books of Samuel formerly were one) – After Absalom usurped King David’s throne and was defeated, David was returned as king.
- Isaiah 50 – Verses 5 through 7 are a Messianic prophecy, referring to the “servant” described in the previous chapter. Messiah Jesus is the Redeemer, and will return the Land to Israel.
- Jeremiah 50 – In verse 19 the Lord promises to return Israel back to the Land, a Jubilee-style promise.
- Zechariah 1 (considering the twelve Messianic prophets as one book) – While this prophecy is initially about the Return of Israel after the Babylonian Captivity, verses 14 through 17 can also be applied to the Last Days Return of Israel.
The one-hundred, fifty Psalms compose three groups of fifty chapters, and appear to prophesy the Return of Israel to the Land in the Last Days.
- Psalm 50 – In this Psalm we read of the coming of the Lord (verse 3), the gathering of His consecrated ones (verse 5) and the Day of Trouble (Tribulation). This Psalm speaks, I believe, of the Day of the Lord when the land is returned to Israel for a Millennium.
- Psalm 100 – This Psalm begins with “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.” The reference to “all the earth” seems to indicate the Millennial Kingdom during which all is returned to Israel as promised by the Lord.
- Psalm 150 – God is on His throne and is due the praise of everything that has breath. This Psalm appears to refer to the completion of the Last Days and the initiation of the Millennial Kingdom when the Promised Land will be returned to Israel.
If we contemplate the several patterns, designs, codes and literary devices found in the Holy Bible, we should be and are awed at the magnificent intellect that created the Bible. This is apt confirmation of the correctness and truth of the Word of God. The Bible is worthy of study and contemplation. Our Heavenly Father is worthy of all praise forever!
