The Final Battle

The Prophet Zechariah, and several other Old Testament prophets, describes a day, the Day of the Lord, when all the nations will be gathered against Jerusalem and Israel. (Zechariah 14:1-2) The prophet tells us that the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, and subdue them. In the study of the Kings of the East, it was shown that the Lord would gather the nations to a place called Armageddon.

Ezekiel 38 gives us a list of the nations that will invade Israel, but will fall there in total defeat.

Meshech and Tubal were originally Scythian tribes in southern Russia. Today, that area would be the Islamic countries of southern Russia and the Caucasus Mountains. These are the many “Stans,” Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, etcetera. Persia is modern day Iran. Ethiopia and Libya we know. Gomer and Togarmah originally settled in and near Asia Minor. That area today is Turkey. While these nations are not all Arabic, they are all Islamic.

Although Holy Scripture does not tell us if or when the nations and tribes listed in Psalm 83 will attack Israel, they are all Islamic and they are all Arabic. And it is not a secret that they all hate Israel. Psalm 83 could have been quoted by the Palestinians and other Arab peoples who have said, “Let us drive the Jews into the sea.”

The peoples listed in Ezekiel 38 and Psalm 83 are certainly aligned against Israel today. I have no idea when the great battle described by the prophets and by the Revelation will occur, but the enemies of Israel are lined up and match those given by the prophets.

People who have not studied the whole Word of God do not understand how our merciful Heavenly Father can destroy the rebel nations of the world. But the purpose is repeatedly told us by the prophets, “So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; … and the heathen shall know that I [am] the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.” (Ezekiel 39:7) “…will ye render me a recompense? and if ye recompense me, swiftly [and] speedily will I return your recompense upon your own head;” (Joel 3:4) “For [it is] the day of the LORD'S vengeance, [and] the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.” (Isaiah 34:8) “A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompense to his enemies.” (Isaiah 66:6) “And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.” (Ezekiel 25:17)

The world in its self-centered wisdom has turned its back on the God that created the world. The world not only ignores the Lord but defames His name. There will be a day when the world will see that God is in control. “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;” (Philippians 2:10)

Pray for the lost of the world. I feel that there is not much time left.

May the name of the Lord be honored on earth, as it is in Heaven.
