GOG AND MAGOG, AGAIN

Recently I discussed the Battle of Gog and Magog and where it might fit in the prophetic spectrum. To refresh your memory, this battle is described in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. Many students of prophecy believe that this battle will occur before the Tribulation, largely because of the mention of seven years following the battle. As I stated before, I do not agree with this view.

Sometimes, we cannot see the forest for the trees. I believe the answer to the meaning of the names, Gog and Magog, lies right before our eyes. The Hebrew alphabet is composed of 22 letters and these letters each have a meaning. Please see http://www.luke810.com/alph2.htm

The name Gog is spelled with a gimel, a vav, and a gimel. The meaning of the gimel is culmination and the vav means completion. So Gog means culmination, completion, culmination. Likewise Magog is spelled with the same three letters preceded by a the letter mem. The meaning of the mem is concealed and revealed.

So Gog is about culmination and completion, and Magog tells us that this completion is concealed and will be revealed. I believe this confirms my understanding that the Battle of Gog and Magog will be at the end of the Tribulation period, as well as at the end of the Millennium as described in the Revelation 20:8-9. These battles are the completion. Although the names have been identified with specific peoples (the Scythians), I believe the names also represent a group of nations or peoples that will be involved in the final battle of the Tribulation and the final battle of the Millennium.

The answer was there all the time. God is great. May His name be praised forever.
