Blessings and Honor

“ . . for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.”
- First Samuel 2:30

Here is a natural principle stated in the Word of God. If you honor the Lord, He will honor you. If you do not honor Him, He will not honor you. This principle can be seen in the history of nations and peoples, as well as in individual lives.

The Korean Peninsula is geographically one land, and the people are culturally the same with the same language and history. The peninsula was artificially divided in 1945 by the victors of World War Two. North Korea was subject to a dictator who did not believe in God and imprisoned or killed Christians. South Korea allowed Christian missionaries to evangelize and as a result, South Korea has a large Christian population. On a per capita basis, South Korea possibly has sent more missionaries to other lands than any other country today. The people of North Korea must depend on donated food from other countries. South Korea, on the other hand, has prospered greatly. If you honor God, He will honor and bless you.

Hispaniola is an island that contains two countries; The Dominican Republic and Haiti. Due to sugar, coffee, indigo and cotton, Haiti was at one time the richest country in the Western Hemisphere, but is now one of the poorest. The Dominican Republic is largely Catholic and therefore recognizes the sovereignty of God and honors Him. Haiti also is ostensibly Catholic, but in reality the religion of Haiti is Voodoo and Santeria. The Dominican Republic prospers, certainly in relation to Haiti. If you honor God, He will honor and bless you.

During the recent contest regarding the “Marriage Amendment” to the Constitution of North Carolina, it was pointed out that states that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman have prospered greater than states that allow same-sex marriages. By using data from Wikipedia for the years 2005 through 2010, the latest available, I compared the average annual economic growth of all 50 states from 2005 to 2010. Of the top fifteen fastest growing states, I found that ten were states that honor the Lord’s definition of marriage. No state that allows same-sex marriages was in the top fifteen. The highest ranked state allowing same-sex marriages was Connecticut in position number twenty-three. If you honor God, He will honor and bless you.

It is interesting that pro-homosexual organizations presented several studies that concluded that states would experience increased economic growth if they would allow same-sex marriages. But the historic facts seem to indicate otherwise.

England was a Christian nation and sent many missionaries to foreign lands. England once was the mightiest country in the world. Commencing possibly over a hundred years ago, England began to turn its back on the Lord. Today, the churches in England are empty and cold, both physically and spiritually. And England is only mighty in conjunction with other nations.

Let us pray that America will repent and turn to the Lord and honor Him.
