Isaiah Chapter Fourteen
The book of the fantastic prophet Isaiah is important on many levels. The prophet was given wonderful prophecies about the Messiah, the Last Days and the Millennial Kingdom. Perhaps this is why it is one of my favorites. I believe that it is significant that the Book of Isaiah was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Judean desert at Qumran. It was complete and almost identical to the Scripture that we have today with the differences being primarily spelling.
The sixty-six chapters of the Book of Isaiah mirror the sixty-six books of the Bible. The division of those chapters into thirty-nine chapters referred to by scholars as the Book of Judgment, and the twenty-seven chapters referred to as the Book of Comfort also mirror the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Further, the Book of Isaiah contains both Alphabetic and Torah Patterns. Please click HERE for details. The Torah Patterns found in chapters eleven through fourteen are very interesting.
- Chapter eleven, a Genesis chapter, is about the Beginning of the Millennial Age and the coming Messiah (the Branch – Isaiah 11:1). Chapter eleven also contains the amazing prophecy that the Lord will bring Israel back from dispersion a second time (Isaiah 11:11). This was written before the first dispersion, which was to Babylon.
- Chapter twelve, an Exodus chapter, is about the Deliverance of Israel. Three times this chapter speaks of the salvation of Israel. The word “salvation” in Hebrew is Jeshua (Strong’s H3444). This word is almost identical to the Hebrew name of Jesus.
- Chapter thirteen, a Leviticus chapter, describes Babylon being Set Apart for destruction. Again, the destruction of Babylon is prophesied before Babylon even attacked Judah and carried many Jews into captivity. Isaiah 13:19-22 foretells the utter desolation of Babylon and states that the city will never be dwelt in again, which is still true today!
- Chapter fourteen, a Numbers chapter, is about Testing in the Wilderness. Only this time the testing is not of Israel, but of Satan and the Assyrian, another Satanic entity. It is interesting that the Philistines, whom the Palestinians claim to represent, are also promised testing and destruction.
It is chapter fourteen that contains the five blasphemous statements of Satan (Isaiah 14:13-14):
“For thou hast said in thine heart,
- I will ascend into heaven,
- I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
- I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
- I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
- I will be like the most High.
These five statements show just how much Satan wants to usurp the Most High God. But the Lord will have the victory! This very next verse of chapter fourteen describes Satan’s end:
“Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides (the deepest portion) of the pit.” – Isaiah 14:15
I am so thankful that the Lord will be victorious. Praise His name!
