The DaVinci Code is a best-selling novel by Dan Brown. I have not read The DaVinci Code, but my brother has. He tells me that the novel is full of historic and factual references to persons, places and organizations. The references are to groups of men whose primary, and perhaps sole, purpose was the perpetuation of the lineage of the Merovingian kings.

King Merovee, who lived in the 5th Century, was a king of the Franks. He and his descendants claimed a unique birthmark; a cross on their chest over their heart. They made a further, blasphemous, claim. King Merovee claimed to be descended from Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

Profane legend has it that Mary Magdalene became pregnant by Jesus, the Son of God, and fled Israel by boat. The legend says that she came to southern France carrying the child of Jesus. This is the legend of the Holy Grail.

This legend is not blasphemous because of the concept of Jesus marrying Mary Magdalene. Love and marriage are blessed by the Lord. The Bible mentions no marriage of Jesus. The legend, therefore, infers that Jesus simply got Mary pregnant, and she fled Israel in embarrassment. That says that Jesus committed fornication. THAT is blasphemy, and destroys the concept of sinless Jesus dying for our sins. It is an attempt to discount or denigrate the Salvation of Christians.

Henry Lincoln, who has studied this legend from the profane perspective, has probably solved the meaning of the Holy Grail. The blasphemous story has Mary Magdalene carrying a child of the very royal bloodline of Jesus, King of kings. In Latin, royal blood is sang real. If these words are slurred, or run together, they become san greal, or Holy Grail.

In 679 A.D. King Dagobert II was murdered and the Frankish kingdom of the Merovingians was usurped by another dynasty. Several organizations have been formed, and may exist today, to place the Merovingian Dynasty back on the throne of France. Two of these groups are the Rosicrucians and the Knights Templar.

The legendary Merovingian birthmark (a rose-colored cross) is the basis for the name of the Rosicrucians. (Rosicrucians, or "rose cross") The Knights Templar wore a red cross on their tunics over their armor. The purpose of both of these organizations was the protection and furtherance of the Merovingian dynasty.

There is another organization said to exist in France today with the same purpose; the Priory of Sion (Zion). This secret society claims leaders that go back to the Knights Templar. They include Jacques DeMolay, the last Templar Grand Master, Leonardo DaVinci, and Claude DeBussy, a French composer.

One further reason why the concept of Jesus marrying Mary Magdalene is wrong, is because Jesus was promised to another. The Church is the Bride of Christ. It would not have been proper for Jesus to marry another.

The DaVinci Code may be a good novel, and the references are historic, but the book is fiction. The fiction is based upon the blasphemous legend of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. We Christians know the truth. "You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free." (John 8:32)
