Being God’s Chosen People is no piece of cake. From the beginning, the very Beginning, even before they were the “chosen,” Satan has endeavored to stop the Plan of God to redeem us from sin and to remove Satan as prince of this world. Satan knew the prophecy of Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” Because of this, Satan tried to prevent the Seed of Eve, whom we know as Jesus, from being born.
These were some of the attempts Satan instigated to stop the coming of the Messiah: The defaming of the human race through the fallen angels, that caused the Lord to grieve that He had created man (Genesis 6:6), but the Lord found and saved Noah; Pharaoh’s plan to commit genocide by killing all male children, but Moses was protected. Later, the giants living in the Promised Land were a further deterrent, but Joshua and Caleb prevailed. Then Herod also tried killing the male babies after Jesus was born, but Joseph was warned and escaped.
In fact, Satan thought he had achieved his goal at Calvary and did not realize that the death of Jesus was part of the Plan. The Apostle Paul said, “none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (First Corinthians 2:8) Satan apparently did not know the entire Plan, and now redemption was accomplished.
But attempts of genocide against the Jews have not stopped since the time of Jesus. The history of the Jews includes massacres of entire villages and ghettos down through the ages. Of course, we are familiar with Hitler’s infamous attempts to eliminate the Jews. By the way, Hitler was a type of the anti-Christ complete with his thousand years of peace, the Third Reich.
So, why have there been so many attempts to eliminate the Chosen People of Israel? Again, Hitler, the raging Iranian president Ahmadinejad and others think they are following their own agenda. But it is really the agenda of Satan. Why?
Scripture gives us the reason. The Lord said, “I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” (Hosea 5:15)
Just as Satan desires to usurp the throne of God and to dwell on the Temple Mount, he desires to continue being the prince of this world. (John 12:31) The time will come when God’s Chosen People will call upon Jesus and say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!” (Luke 13:35) However, if there are no Jews, there will be no one to fulfill this prophecy given by the Lord Jesus. Satan would be pleased because he can continue his reign of evil. That is the reason for the genocide down through the ages. God’s Chosen People must be totally eliminated because the coming back of Jesus is tied to their seeking Him.
But, God is still in control and His plan will succeed! The inevitable conclusion is in the back of the Book. Praise His holy name!
