The Sevens of the Revelation

An “heptadic structure” is a structure based upon the number “seven.” Everyone knows that there are many “heptadic structures” in the Revelation. But do you know how many?

The following is a list provided by Brother Chuck Missler, with references. You will note that there are twenty-one structures of seven. Twenty-one is divisible by seven, another heptadic structure.

  1. Seven Churches (Revelation 1:4,11,20; 2; 3)
  2. Seven Seals (Revelation 5; 6)
  3. Seven Trumpets (Revelation 8, 9)
  4. Seven Bowls (Revelation 15; 16; 17:1; 21:9)
  5. Seven Lampstands (Revelation 1:12, 13, 20; 2:1)
  6. Seven Spirits (Revelation 1:4; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6)
  7. Seven Stars (Revelation 1:16, 20; 2:1; 3:1)
  8. Seven Lamps(Revelation 4; 5)
  9. Seven “Title-pairs” (Revelation 2:1,8,12,18; 3:1,7,14)
  10. Seven Promises to the Overcomer (Revelation 2;3)
  11. Seven Horns (Revelation 5:6)
  12. Seven Eyes (Revelation 5:6)
  13. Seven Angels (Revelation 8:2,6; 15:1,6,7,8; 16:1; 17:1;21:9)
  14. Seven Thunders (Revelation 10:3, 4)
  15. Seven Thousand (Revelation 11:13)
  16. Seven Heads (Revelation 12:3; 13:1; 17:3, 7, 9)
  17. Seven Crowns (Revelation 12:3)
  18. Seven Plagues (Revelation 15:1, 6, 8; 21:9)
  19. Seven Mountains (Revelation 17:9)
  20. Seven Kings (Revelation 17:10,11)
  21. Seven “I Am’s” of Christ (Revelation 1:8, 11, 17, 18; 21:6; 22:13,16;)
Some of the above “sevens” have multiple references that I did not include. Seven is the number of completion and the Revelation, the last book of the Bible, completes the Lord’s wonderful Word. I am so thankful for His Bible.
