The Sabbath Year and the Jubilee

I believe the Jubilee cycle instituted by the Lord has begun again. I believe the current years of the cycle are 1917, 1967 and 2017. For more information please see my article HERE.

The instructions given to Moses by the Lord (Leviticus 25:8-12) state that after seven Sabbatical Years, or forty-nine years, the Jubilee is to be announced on the Day of Atonement, which is Tishri 10 on the Hebrew calendar. The Sabbath Years appear to begin about the same time.

The Sabbath Years begin at the time of the Fall feasts, or “appointed times.” Based upon the historical evidence, this Fall will be the beginning of the seventh Sabbath Year of the Jubilee cycle. Therefore, if this is correct, the Fall of 2016 will be the announcement of the Jubilee Year which will continue into 2017.

Brother Jonathan Cahn has spoken and written about the approaching Sabbath Year, which he believes will begin this fall at Elul 29 on the Hebrew calendar. Elul 29 is ten days before the Day of Atonement. This year’s Elul 29 is September 13, 2015. Brother Cahn has noted disastrous financial events that have occurred on Elul 29 during previous Sabbath Years.

For example 1987 was the beginning of a Sabbath Year. It was during the Fall feasts of 1987 that the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 22.6% of its value in one day! That would be like losing 3,900 points at 2015 valuations.

The Sabbatical Year beginning in 1994 did not produce extraordinary results. Another Sabbatical Year began in 2001. Elul 29, 2001 was the day the stock market opened after September 11th, 2001. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell seven percent in one day.

More recently on the next beginning of a Sabbath Year, Elul 29 or September 29, 2008, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 777 points. That is an interesting number.

This coming Sabbath Year may not result in a stock market crisis, but the Lord may choose to show His righteous indignation toward rebellious mankind in other events that demonstrate His sovereignty and power.

The most important thing to me is the apparent confirmation of the reinstitution of the Jubilee cycle. As a reminder, in 1917 the Holy Land was taken, without a shot being fired, from the Ottoman Turks by the British Army. Fifty years later in 1967, the City of Jerusalem was captured by the Israeli army in a military action. Both of these actions were moves to restore the Land to the proper owners. This is the purpose of the Jubilee.

Unknown to us is what, if anything, will occur in 2017 to move toward the further restoration of the Land to Israel. Keep your eyes open. We live in interesting times. I believe we live in the Last Days. Praise the Lord for the blessing of seeing these interesting times!
