WHO IS JESUS ?

Jesus is the Son of God. He was present at the Creation. God said, "Let us make man in our image" (Genesis 1:26). Jesus was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3:25). There are many prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament. One of the most notable is the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. Psalm 22 is a picture of the crucifixion written 1000 years before Jesus was born and several hundred years before crucifixion was invented as a form of capital punishment. The Bible is true and correct.

In the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sinned against God, the Lord provided Adam and Eve with animal skins to cover themselves. In order to have an animal skin, an animal must die and blood must be shed. From the very beginning the principle of blood being shed for sin has existed.

Later, animal sacrifices were made in the Tabernacle (a tent-like structure) and the more permanent Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Again, blood was shed because of the sin of the people.

Two thousand years ago Jesus, the Son of God, God in human form, was killed even though He was sinless. He was without sin. Jesus was sacrificed and died on a cross on a hill called Calvary. That hill is part of the same mountain upon which the Temple stood and sacrifices were made for hundreds of years before Jesus.

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The Son of God.

But the best part is that Jesus was resurrected and now stands at the right hand of God the Father (Acts 7:55). His resurrection gives us the same hope (Romans 6:4). If you belong to Jesus; if you have been "buried" with Him in baptism, you will be resurrected upon your death in this world. What a Blessed Hope! (See Titus 2:13)

Go to "How do I Receive Salvation?" to find out how you may be resurrected and be with Jesus in His Kingdom. In Hebrew the name of Jesus is "Jeshua". Jeshua means "salvation". Jesus is our salvation. Praise His Name!
