When the prophet Zechariah spoke of the Lord setting foot on the Mount of Olives, he is referencing the Lord Jesus. (Zechariah 14:3-4) Jesus, the Son of God, is the “executive officer” of God the Father. God wills it. Jesus does it. Jesus created the world that we know. (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16) And it will be Jesus who fights the final battle and Jesus who will be victorious.

I believe the Battle of Gog and Magog in the Old Testament and the Battle of Armageddon in the New Testament to be synonymous. The purpose of this battle is for the Most High God to be proven to be the Lord of all.

“… and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.” – Ezekiel 39:7-8

I have been guilty of assuming (a terrible practice) that when the Lord Jesus comes at the end of the Tribulation and defeats the nations gathered against Israel, that He will then snap His fingers and the Temple will be built and the many other things promised in the Bible will simply come to pass.

This is wrong. During the transition period after Gog and Magog/Armageddon the nations will bring the remnant of all the tribes, or families, of Israel (not just Jews) to Israel. They will bring them! (See Isaiah 49:22 below.)

Here is what will occur, according to the Word of God, when the Millennial Kingdom is instituted by the Lord Jesus: (all emphasis is mine)

The wealth of the nations will be brought to Israel by men!

“And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.” – Zechariah 14:14

“… the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.” – Isaiah 60:9

“And the sons of strangers (foreigners) shall build up thy walls.” – Isaiah 60:10

“For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers (foreigners) shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.” – Isaiah 14:1-2

“And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed (aman Strong's H539 - supported, comforted) at thy side.” – Isaiah 60:3-4

“Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.” – Isaiah 49:22
