The United States has much to answer for. I am speaking of the fifty to sixty million innocent children sacrificed through abortion. The blood of murdered Abel cried out to the Lord from the ground. (Genesis 4:10) How much more the blood of millions of innocent babies? In speaking of murder, Numbers 35:33 says that shed blood defiles the land, and the land can only be cleansed by the blood of the murderer(s). This should scare Americans. God is righteous. He does not change.

It appears that the Lord is withdrawing His wonderful grace from our nation. We are declining morally, spiritually, economically and politically.

With that in mind, consider the current events in the United States. The riots are not from the Lord. While facetiously calling for racial equality, the rioters have pulled down statues of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas. Douglas was a black man who fought against slavery. The riots and burning are about destroying history, good and bad, and establishing a new culture, or a new order.

But I do not believe the division, fear, conflict and riots are from the Lord. When Israel turned its back on God, He punished them first by wicked kings, and then by foreign nations. The Lord used the Midianites, the Assyrians, the Babylonians and finally the Romans.

I began with the well known passage of Ephesians chapter six because we Christians sometimes lose sight of who is behind the wickedness we daily see about us.

At the present time the United States is not under overt attack by a foreign nation. We are under demonic attack. Again, this is not from the Most High God. He is allowing it, but He is not causing it. In my opinion,, this is unprecedented in the history of a nation and its relation with the Lord. I believe the United States had a special relationship with the Lord. The United States was the lamp of freedom, and the lamp of Christianity. But the United States has turned its back on God, and darkness is covering the Light.

As Christians, we have the wonderful privilege of approaching the Lord’s throne of grace through prayer. We must be in strong prayer to the Lord. Pray that His people, called by His name, would repent of our sins and pray to Him to heal our nation. Pray against the demonic influences operating in our land. Pray that the Lord would quench and subdue the spirits of hatred, division, anger and bitterness. Pray that He would direct all our political leaders to enforce truth and justice. Pray for truth and justice to be loosed in the United States.

I think it is appropriate that I have posted this lesson as we approach Halloween, the night that the world honors those principalities, powers and rulers of darkness. Lift up your voices to the Lord. He hears and answers our prayers. Please pray.
