No Hope

The Latin American gang, MS13, has been in the news a lot lately. At one time they basically controlled and terrorized the streets of the country of El Salvador. By the use of their military, and led by a new president who believed in prayer, the government of El Salvador rounded up most of the gang members and they are now in prison. The prison is Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT), which means “Center for the Confinement of Terrorism.”

The men in this maximum security prison are guilty of the most wicked crimes. Apparently there is no capital punishment in El Salvador because most of the inmates are guilty of multiple murders. So they are sentenced to life in prison because some of these men have total prison terms of hundreds of years.

The gang members are placed in confinement areas holding forty or fifty men, and they are watched carefully. They are given three meals a day and clean clothing. They have communal bathing and toilet facilities. They are not mistreated, but they are certainly not pampered. There is no television, no telephone or cell phone communication, no visitors and no mattresses on the beds. They never leave the building. Every day they are taken out of confinement and are given callisthenic exercises, still within the building. The Bible is read to them daily. (Read that last sentence again!)

These men have no hope. Most of them will never leave that building alive.

Of course, there is hope in salvation through faith and belief in the Lord Jesus. Because of the wonderful grace of our loving Heavenly Father, these men can be forgiven and can spend eternity in Glory. For that reason, I have been praying for salvation for these prisoners. I pray the Holy Spirit will move through that maximum security prison and may there be a great awakening there. I pray that the Lord will be lifted up and honored in this prison in the land named for the Lord Jesus, El Salvador (Savior).

But consider the unbelievers outside of this and other prisons. They, too, have no hope. They just don’t know it. They are sentenced to eternal death.

Please pray for the MS13 gang members imprisoned in the maximum security prison in El Salvador. Please also pray for the lost of this world who have no guarantee, no hope, but do not realize it. May there be millions more souls added to the Lamb’s Book of Life and may the Lord receive all the Glory.
